In Collaboration with Community Unity Arts I taught a group of middle school girls about woodcutting and printing for 2 sessions. They also created clay sculptures, paintings, pins and other art that was them offered for sale at Goodman Community Center during Spring Gallery night 2019.
The whole series was designed for the teens to get the feel for multiple artistic processes as a means of expressing themselves. It was such a privilege to teach this group
Taught Community :Art that moves week long art camp for 5-9 yr old June 2019. We visited Mural Alley behind Hawthorne Library ( pictured Lesley Numbers mural) made self portraits, talked about community, made aprons and pins. Made prints around a theme with styrofoam and cardboard. Made stickers, chalk paint and acrylic paint community murals AND made hand print tiles that were included in a local mosaic mural at Communication Madison.
I was invited to STEAM night to help kids create their own prints using foam blocks. Over 30 kids created and printed blocks in a 2 hour span so I didn’t get many photos. It was such a blast seeing all the creativity
To coincide with the Post Secret live show March 2018 The Overture Center invited me to bring supplies and help people create their own artful post cards illustrating their secrets
2 days ( total 12 hrs) live painting a table competing for audience votes against 8 other artists in 4 categories during La fete de marquette. All tables designed around theme of what community means to you. This table is a Community Venn Diagram with 3 components People, Place and Culture that come together to form the Wilmar neighborhood in the middle. Audience participation was essential for including finger prints in the people section, listing favorite places and the feelings people got from the neighborhood. Table won Most Creative
